Club100 Academy Day

On Sunday Jess had her first taste of Club100 karts, with the Academy Day at Whilton Mill. She needed to pass an evaluation to be able to race, which she did without any trouble, so she’s ready and excited to take part in the Northern Championship starting in April!

She got the best conditions of the weekend but it was still quite slippery to start with, and with her group made up entirely of drivers new to Club100 it was tough to find clean laps at times. She finished 5th fastest with a time of 1:13.596 in a first session that saw a lot of yellow flags as drivers struggled with the conditions, although Jess managed to keep it nicely on track throughout.

She followed that up by going 2nd fastest with a 1:05.147 in the second session, with the track drying up considerably in between sessions and fewer yellow flags.

Session three again saw her near the front, setting her fastest time of the day with a 1:04.373 that was good enough for 3rd fastest.

The final session saw frequent yellow flags, and Jess was unable to improve any further as the combination of yellow flags and catching slow drivers at tricky spots left her unable to set a single clean lap. She finished the final session 6th overall with a 1:06.077.

Overall her best time was good for 12th out of 40, with a number of the faster times coming in the fourth session of the other group. A good afternoon, with some tricky conditions, and Jess is looking forward to getting started racing in Club100 later in the year!
