A frustrating InKart round on Sunday at Milton Keynes for Jess, mainly from things outside her control.
Heat 1 she started P5, but dropped back a place at the start. She had made this place back towards the end of lap 1, only to be taken out into T10. She quickly made this place back again but shortly after was passed by the same driver under yellow flags, who was not penalised. Two laps stuck behind them meant she was out of contention for any better result and she finished P5.
Heat 2 she started P2 and made up a place off the line. After running first for a couple of laps she dropped back a place but was hanging onto the leaders, creating a several second gap to the drivers behind. She caught up to a slow junior but struggled to get and stay past with the extra power they have on the straights. This brought her back into the clutches of the cadets behind and after being forced off track at T10 near the end of the race she finished P5 again.
That put her in the B final, but a junior driver was included in the grid calculations in error, meaning she started 5th instead of 3rd, and the only driver who actually ended up in a worse starting position. It had started raining by this point and conditions were tricky! She was passed under yellows by the same driver as before, who once again avoided any punishment.
Keeping it (mostly) on track in the tricky conditions she made her way up to 3rd where she managed her pace in the closing laps to at least gain a trophy.
